As you can imagine, there are lots of variables when it comes to a remodel.

• • the size of the room or house you want to remodel
  • the age and condition of the existing room or home
  • how much you want to change

That’s why we can’t give you an exact number, and why it’s important to talk together about your project before we can provide an estimate. We can give you some ballpark numbers however.

Average home remodels range from $20k to $100k, subject to the variables listed above.  That works out to about $15 to $60 on average per square foot.

The scope of a remodel can vary from cosmetic to a complete do-over:

1. 1. Just Fix My Problem. This could be an emergency repair. Maybe you just need to replace your tub or shower. Or maybe you just want new cabinets. Narrowing your focus like this can keep your costs down while still fixing your biggest concerns.
   2. Cosmetic. A cosmetic job could be refinishing your floors, walls and cabinets and replacing your light fixtures, countertops, sink and backsplash.
   3. Complete Renewal. We remove everything, down to the studs if needed, then rebuild with new floors, new sink, tub and toilets, new cabinets and countertops, new light fixtures, and anything else desired.
   4. Custom Remodel. A custom remodel usually means a new floor plan, removing or adding walls, and repositioning appliances. You may also choose to keep, finish or replace flooring, counters, fixtures, appliances, etc.

We do not offer credit, but we will work with your lender. Many of our clients get a home improvement loan with SoFi. There are no fees and no collateral is needed.

Usually, it’s always cheaper to remodel than to buy. If you’re thinking about sprucing up your place, a home remodel can do wonders, making it work better for you without breaking the bank. If you’ve got bigger dreams though, starting from scratch and building a brand-new home could be a better long-term solution.

The average cost of buying an existing home in Hillsboro is $289 per square foot. You could build new for $150 – $200/sq ft, but you’ll also need a lot. At current prices that might cost you up to $500,000. Compare those prices with a remodel, which you can probably do for $100 – $150/sq ft.  Plus, there’s no moving costs with a remodel, and you already have a developed lot.

It depends on the scope and complexity of the job. We can usually schedule and complete emergency repairs within 2-3 weeks. Cosmetic work typically takes 4-6 weeks. Custom remodels and complete renewals may take 4-6 months. Other factors which may affect schedule include engineering support, permits, utility schedules and delivery of materials and fixtures.

If you want to stay in your home during a remodel we will work with you to make that possible, and to minimize any inconvenience to you. Any temporary at-home living accommodations will become part of our plan that you will help us create.
